my 2004 iMac is the only "g" network device in my house now. I've got a dual band Airport Extreme that works fine, but I was wondering if I just got an 802.11n USB receiver and used that with the old iMac (I assume I would turn off airport on the iMac) if that would it on equal footing network-wise with the other Mac devices in the house?

Your Mac's Specs
MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.4GHz i5 OS X 10.6.3
What is your goal in moving the iMac to 802.11n? Are you looking to reduce interference, increase range, standardize your network?
