Ichat Av help with ibook g4

So i just bought a ibook g4 and have set up ichat av and have all the text messaging working fine. So I tried using my firewire dv cam that works fine and I have had it plugged it in to imovie, ichat recognizes the camera and when i connect with someone it works fine for 10 seconds and then it says it disconnects because no data was sent. Also can I use my internal microphone to 1 way audio chat and if i can how do i.
