My G4:
Machine Name: Power Mac G4
Machine Model: PowerMac3,6
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (2.1)
Number Of CPUs: 2
CPU Speed: 1 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
L3 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 167 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.4.8f2
I have 2 512mb DIMMS that are marked "PC2100". My docs say that, with my machine's 167Mhz bus speed, I should use PC2700 DIMMS. It further states that PC2100 DIMMS are to be used in Macs with a bus speed of 133 Mhz.

Will these DIMMS I have not work in my Mac under its present configuration?

If this is a MDD machine it requires PC2100 or 2700. The RAM expansion slots accept 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMMs that are 2.5 volt, unbuffered, 8-byte, nonparity, and DDR226-compliant (PC2100) or DDR333-compliant (PC2700).
important: DDR200 (PC1600) or slower DIMMs do not work in the Power Mac G4 computer.
