I'd like someone to check my activity monitor, but question first.

I am slowly but surely trying to make peace and gain confidence with my Mac. I'd like for someone to check out my activity monitor listing just to make sure things are on the up and up, but I have a question first off.

I heard that just clicking on activity monitor doesn't give you the full listing of processes or whatever you call it/them. So how can I gather a listing of all the processes or whatever they're called in activity monitor so I can then post them?

Are you wanting to do this for idle curiosity or is there an issue you have with your Mac?

It does give you the full listing of processes, it's just at the bottom you have 5 tabs.
CPU/System Memory/Disk Activity/Disk Usage/Network.
These are all different graphs, etc... so for instance if I want to see what's happening with my RAM, I will select the system memory tab, so as well as seeing the processes above, and seeing what's sucking up the most RAM, I will see all the different variations with a little graph like this.

So you've got a bunch of RAM free and your CPU is doing next to nothing. Looks good on this end.

Is your mac misbehaving in anyway that you think we need to diagnose? If things just don't seem as snappy as they used to, run a disk permissions repair in Disk Utility (Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility).

Another one we like to recommend here is Onyx. Which I should run right now actually, haven't run it this week. Basically it's a housekeeping program that empties/rebuilds/repairs things like your various caches in the system, temporary files, it also verifies not only your disk permissions, but iif your hard disk has any bad sectors... it's really a great tool. Highly recommended.

Sorry for the somewhat late response everyone. The reason I ask about this is well...chas m got it right. While it's taken a while I have come around to understanding that unless I explicitly install a trojan I'm not going to have one. And I'm not afraid of viruses because none exist for OSX now. I had asked someone how I would know if my Mac had been hacked and they said I could look at the processes but I likely wouldn't understand them myself. So for finishing up with this windows paranoia I'd just like for someone who would understand what these processes are to check them. I have no evidence I've been hacked but there was a security update that was released on the 15th I think and I only got around to installing it on the 16th. I did do some web browsing before installing that update though, so I just want to make sure I'm good and then put this all behind me and enjoy my Mac.

How would I go about getting a full list of processes and would anyone here be willing to take a look at it?

I'm sorry for the double post, but what I did was look up a list of Mac processes and I found this page: Mac OS X: What Are All Those Processes?

Then I when to activity monitor and there was an option in a pull down menu that said all processes or full processes or something like that. I chose that option and then cross referenced my list of processes to the ones on that page. Some didn't show up on there and I was wondering if someone could confirm if these are legitimate.

Yes, they're all legit.

Uninstall the iAntiVirus. There aren't any viruses for the Mac.
