Weird weird wierd!

So the Macbook version 10.4.11 starts up fine, after sleeping for a while, goes to the desktop and then in like 10-15 seconds either gives me the great screen of death or just shuts down, sometimes it restarts itself! What's even weirder is that after you restart it 3-4 times it stays up fine and doesn't have any more problems.... This all started when my friend was trying to print out his IRS form to my printer... Is my computer a member of the Texas Militia?

Seriously - I'd love to hear the tech's thoughts on this... P.S. my battery sucks fyi - it usually shuts the computer down if it's not plugged in....
