Strange; it has worked just fine since forever, but not anymore.

Click:
>New Message ...and there is no >Send button! :(

Click:
>Reply ...and there IS a >Send button. :)

So...
I can reply to mail and send it, but I can't send a new message!

Anyone familiar with this issue?

Welcome to the Forum. What did u do just before the problem started. For more help you need to tell us what OS you are on. If you quit Mail and re open it do u still get the problem? Can u log into another User to see if the problem crops up there as well.

Welcome to the Forum.
Thanks for the welcome and the reply
What did u do just before the problem started
Nothing unusual. Started the app., clicked >New Message, wrote one, but no >Send was available to click.

As said, however, >Send does appear if I >Reply to mail, just not when I create a >New Message.

OSX 10.5.8

Yep.

I only set up one user. I'd like to be able to send mail with my usual user account ;-) I could set up another user though.

Have you seen this issue before?

Thanks,
Aiki

Addendum: I set up another user as you suggested and the mail works fine with that user.

It still does not work in my normal user account, however.

Sounds like some kind of mail add-on is causing a problem, or perhaps the prefs are a bit funky. Do you have any third-party plug-ins for Mail?

Nope, no plug ins. Prefs unchanged from when it worked to when it suddenly didn't.

As a shot in the dark try downloading and installing this - it may straighten things out.

True that. I already tried though.

In case some reader doesn't know what that means:
Go to MacintoshHD/Applications/Utilities and run Disk Utility.
Select your Macintosh HD on the left side of the application.
Then click Repair Disk Permissions at the bottom of the First Aid tab.
When it finishes, restart your computer.

Then go to Mail and find out it is still broken... :(

Could this be as simple as clicking the little "droplet" thingy at the upper right to reveal the icon bar? Writer never says that any icon are visible, so it's possible the entire bar is gone.

When you are in the New Message window, if you right click the tool bar and choose Customize Toolbar, can you drag the Send icon back on to the toolbar, or drag the Default toolbar back to replace it?
