Ok here' s my problem I'm working on a
2007 MBP 2.2 Core Duo 4gb ram which has an 8600 128mb graphics card.

I am a video editor using Final Cut Pro creating Music videos and graphics. Now my system can handle everything it's just that certain effects need to be rendered which slows me down.

I am thinking about picking up a new Mac Mini which I know would have the faster ram ( ddr3 vs ddr2 ) and at least have a better graphics card ( 9400 256 vs 8600 128 )

Now when rendering effects I noticed my Cpu on my current MBP ( 2.2 ) hits 85+ % usage basically bringing my system to a crawl. Will the newer Mac Mini even with the same speed processor ( 2.26 core duo ) help me out or will it be more of the same?

Should I just opt for the 2.53 model instead?

Ideally I would love to buy a new MBP which comes with the new Quad Core cpus but I simply cannot afford them right now. Before I purchase a Mac Mini I would want to know is

1) Will I see an increase in performance from my current system?
2) Will there be a new Mac Mini coming out soon which should make me wait because obviously those will have faster processors?

Thank you anyone for the replies

peace

Your Mac's Specs
MBP i7, Mac Mini & iPhone 3G.
1) Yes, the current Mac Minis pretty fast. I think you will see a boost.

2)There will be an update. I don't see quad cores anytime soon. The Mac Mini went core duo 2 about 6 months after the macbook. I think we are over a year away from i3 minis.
