I have the update checker turned off but it still checks for updates every time I boot the computer. Any suggestions.

Have you tried changing the rate of which it checks? What version of Mac OS X are you running?

Your Mac's Specs
Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
And is it the Apple software updater, or do you have login items in your accounts preferences that are starting whenever you boot your Mac, which have their own updates, and are set to search for updates every time they are launched?
