I've heard from iPhone 3GS users that the surface eventually wears off and you're back to the plain glass surface. Anyone know how long it should last (understanding that my mileage may vary)

The oleophobic surface is quite impressive though. I just have to lightly wipe the surface with a microfiber and all mudges from writing multiple emails is gone! It's pretty amazing, and I'll be sad when it's gone.

Good God. Assuming he sleeps 8 hours a day, that's one text every 3 minutes while he's awake.

One text every three minutes, that's it? I can easily send/receive several dozen in that time period.

My coating lasted about 7 months before being gone on the 3gs. I would say my usage is moderate to light and the phone was well treated (used a microfiber on its face).

You know its gone when you see fingerprints on the phone all the time, even when you just use it for something simple. :D
