safari wont work

My macbook will connect to the internet as skype works. however safari will not open any pages and after a while of saying 'loading' it says 'the server where the page is located isnt responding.

Have you tried resetting Safari? Safari Menu>Reset Safari

yes i have done this i have also deleted and reinstalled safari as well as repairing the disk permissions.
