Hello guys,

I can use Quick Look to look at every file format other than documents created by iWork?! What's up with that?

I am using 10.6.3, if anybody is wondering.

I just created a test document in Pages, and was able to use Quick Look to view it with no problem. I'm not sure why you would not be able to. Sorry I can't help with the problem.

Thats a bit strange on Pages - an Apple application.

I sometimes get what you are getting when quick looking .docx documents, but sometimes not so I'm not sure.

Sorry don't have an answer for your problem!

could be corrupt.

Move it to the Desktop, then try QuickLook.
If no change, Restart, then try again.
If no change, that wasn't the problem, so try a different user account.

Yes, I can Quick Look that particular file I dragged out.

What does that mean, and now what?

Say what? Did you follow the suggestion step by step? What happened?

I did not mean that you should QuickLook the file mentioned. Try the other things that were not displaying correctly after doing the above.

Hey guys,

I tried what toMACsh said and it still doesn't work.

I dragged the .plist file onto the desktop and tried Quicklook on my Pages documents, and they still don't work.

I restarted, same.

I logged out of my own account and logged back in, and it remains the same. This is my own computer, and this is the only account on it.

I am running out of options here. I still can't QuickLook Pages files.

1. Is this a Pages 09 document you're trying to view using Pages 08 perhaps?

2. Are their movies (or other multimedia) embedded in the document?

1) Yes, it is Pages '09 document, and I am using Pages '09 as well.

2. I cannot view any kind of documents made by Pages, with or without other multimedia. It is just a normal document with a bunch of words in it.

How about going into another User and checking if you can use Quick Look on Pages in there.

I am not familiar with adding other users on my Mac, since I'm the only one using it. If I open another account, will I be able to access the document I created in this account?

I just used my Macbook to access my iMac, and I can do a QuickLook from there but not here (my iMac).

No harm is done with having a spare Admin User account as it can be used to help with troubleshooting as in this case. Go into Sys Prefs > Accounts and click the + below left pane then add account and enable fast user switching - how you do it depends on 10.5 or 10.6. Then open pages and create a new doc - save it and then select file in finder and try Quick Look. If it works then you know the issue is in your User area.

So what do I do if it is the USER area?

And, if it isn't the USER area, what happens?

If it is OK in the new user then it is a file in ~user/Library which means having a hunt in there.

This is one possibility;

Click for full size

Try dragging this to the desktop and logging out and back into your User area to see if works, if no change you can replace the file off the desktop.

OP already tried that plist file and it did not change anything.

OOps, didn't notice Page 2 had come into being...

What version of OSX are we talking about? (sorry if I missed that)
Maybe you should download the combo updater and do an archive and install, even if it's the same update you've already applied.

Hey guys,

I downloaded and installed the combo-update.

Problem still there.

Should I delete and install iWork 09 again?
