Hey everybody, this is my first post. I've been a Microsoft user all my life and have recently bought a mac. I'm having a pretty tough time with it, feeling like a newb.
anyways, here is what happened. I accidently formatted a partition on my external hard drive to mac journaled, it was previously FAT32. the problem is that I remembered later that it contained stuff that I really needed.
I haven't used the partition since the format, not to write over the files I need.
PLEASE HELP. this is very important.
thanks.

Welcome to mac forums....
It's only bad news from here really I'm afraid!
Formatting erases all data on the the partition, and if you have hundreds, maybe thousands of $ to spare, perhaps a data retrieval specialist may be able to get some or all your files back, but highly unlikely.
You can try Data Recovery Software, Data Recovery Tools - Stellar Data Recovery

Hmm, that's too bad. but anyways thanks a lot for your reply, at least now I know what I'm dealing with. I will try some data recovery, and I'll be posting the results soon.
Thanks again
Jake
