macbook frozen! blue screen!

hello all!

i am brand new to this site!

last night, i turned on my mac and it loaded up to a blue screen. after doing some research, i started it in safe mode and have pulled the startup items, fonts, and com.apple.loginitems.plist files to the desktop and then restarted. the computer booted up normally for the first time. . but now it is running sooo slooooow! i'd say around 20% of what it was doing earlier this week. please help!

Download OnyX and run the default settings. It is a nice little app that cleans up the system and improves performance. Once you've done that, come back if the problem persists.

Also, back up your HD straight away.
Now, speaking of your HD, how big is it, and how much free space do you have?
