So I'm planning on buying a new Iphone this monday. What I was wondering was, should I get the 16 gig or the 32 gig?

I'm going to be using the Iphone as an Ipod also, so I will definitely be putting music on it. However, I've never even owned an mp3 player with a larger memory then 4gb, and even on that I only put about 2.5 gigs on it.

However, I'm thinking I may put upto anywhere between 8-12 gigs of simply music, hopefully. That also might be a huge stretch. I probably won't even put that much to be real.

My question was, how much does having about 8-12 gigs of simply music on my iPhone effect the speed of the rest of the applications? So, how much slower is a 16 gig going to be with 8-12 gigs of music on it compared to a 32? Will it even make a noticeable difference?

Thanks.

Oh, and the difference in price would be $100. $199 for the 16, and $299 for the 32 (I'm getting it on a contract, if you're wondering why so cheap).

Too many...
The memory size doesn't affect the speed at all!

Correct but both have the same amount of memory (RAM). The only difference if the amount of space in the hard drive. (just my pet hate when people call free hard drive space memory, they are not the same thing).

But what you said about hard drive space is true.

If you think your going to put a lot of music,tv shows and movies go for the 32.

I suggest the original poster should read this topic here. There is a lot of explanation there about what each size of ipad (16, 32 or 64) can and can not do for you.

That's what I'm doing-- Apple has come out with the new model every year in June for the last 4 years. Though I imagine that the OP has already bought one if he was talking about getting it on Monday.

Hard Drive space is like RAM. You can never have too much and you'll never be sorry you have more than you need, wheras the opposite is nearly always true. My advice to the OP would be to buy the biggest phone you can afford.

Ditto. IMO, it's kind of pointless to buy an iPhone now, with OS 4.0 and (hopefully...knock on wood) a new iPhone altogether coming out. Even with the 3GS out, I have a feeling iPhone "4G" will be radically different--and worth the 2-3 month wait.

I wouldn't expect any huge changes to the iPhone this summer, but yes there should be a lightly updated one at some point.

Agreed. I expect a SSD size increase to 64Gb and maybe a faster CPU.
