hi all

i bought a second hand Mac and have changed most of the name details but in finder i cant change the home account folder name from the prev owner, ive looked up that i need to go in to account and enable root user is this correct?

if so when i go and open the directory utility i am unable to enable root user as the edit table doesent come up.

any ideas.

thanks

Go to the  menu > System Preferences and the Accounts preferences.

You can change the home details from there

When purchasing a second hand Mac or any other computer, it's best to completely wipe the hard drive, re-install the OS and start over. That way, you don't need to worry about changing accounts and it also avoids any other problems that may be left over from the previous owner. Of course this assumes the previous owner included the original install media when selling the machine to you.

Regards.

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
Also, take note, that when one changes the name of the home folder in finder, that if not done correctly, they will mess up the whole directory.
