Depends which ebooks you have.

The Kindle and eReader Apps both import ebooks directly, not through iTunes. I am guessing the new eBooks App will do the same.

Edit - each one has its own proprietary ebooks of course.

How can transfer to the iPad using eReader

Assuming the ebooks you have are intended for the eReader, run the eReader App, select Books, press the + sign and you get a menu of places from which you can download the ebooks, including the eReader/Fictionwise shelf. This allows you to redownload ebooks from your bookshelf on the ebooks for your iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile Smartphone, Palm Treo and Centro, Symbian Mobile Phones and more - Over 60,000 Titles and counting! website.

This is based on the version of the App on my iPhone. I don't have an iPad yet, but I assume it is similar.

I am guessing that the Apple iBooks App will work in a similar way, unless iTunes gets an additional Tab for importing ebooks.

Hope that helps :)

I had an epub book that I dragged into Books in iTunes and it transferred to iBooks without a problem. The book has to be a .epub format. There are programs out there that will convert different kinds of formats to epub. I have Stanza on my Mac (works with Windows too) and it converts ebooks to epubs. You could give that a try.

im really looking forward to iBook and I hope I can transfer my PDF's to it over WiFi. If not, Stanza is by far the best reader app for iPhone and it's free.
