My Powermac g5 dual 1.8 broke down has the geforce 6800and i won a powermac g5 quad 2.5 on ebay. The g5 I won on eBay has the geforce 6600 video card. Is the nvidia 6800 compatible with g5 quad 2.5? Any help will be appreciated.

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Most, if not all, GeForce 6800 are AGP cards and will not work on the Dual Core. Yours came from a 1.8DP so it is an AGP card. You will require a GeForce 7800GT or ATI Radeon X1900GT in PCI-E format as Dual Core machines do not support AGP video cards.

If the 6600 is not sufficient for your needs, look for the 7800GT but they are not cheap. Expect to pay about US$200 for a used card.
