I have a couple of questions that I'd like answers for to help me decide on purchasing an iPad.

1) how much free space is available on a new 16G model? Does the OS and internal applications eat up much of the 16G?
2) how can I access files on my PC computer? (over the WiFi)
3) can I store data (books, videos, etc.) selectively on the iPad the same as I do with my iPod? I would like to load only what I need if storage space is limited.

Thanks in advance.

1. haven't checked that yet
2. AFAIK, you have to put the files in iTunes and then sync (with the cable or dock).
3. You should be able to select items in iTunes that you want to sync to the iPad or not, just like with the iPod.

1. My 32GB model said the 'capacity' is 29GB. So your 16GB model will probably say 13GB
2. Only via iTunes officially, although I have set up an IMAP folder on my Gmail for file exchanging, and it works reasonably well for now. Expect a big improvement in OS 4
3. Yes, it's all managed via iTunes. You can select playlists, load only unwatched, unread etc...

well the the os 4 is rumored to get out at april 8, read more here and I don't know if it gonna be available ipad problems

Regarding syncing then it works the same it works with your iPod/iPhone syncing.

Best

John

Exactly - I expect OS 4 will be around the same time as the next iPhone launch, which will probably be June/July.

My 16 gig iPad had 14.1 gigs available.

I wonder why I lost 3GBs and you lost less than 2! :Angry-Tongue:

We'll get some details on that later today, but contrary to the earlier post it is NOT coming out today. Today there will be a "sneak peek" and some discussion of it, but we're really not likely to see the official release for some months yet.

I think this post from Bob here answers your ipad space questions very well. Just read the entire topic too. A lot of good information there.
