I was trying the free trial of .mac but no longer want to use the service. How can I remove the idisk that is mounted on my desktop? Thanks in advance.

just drag it to the trash, that will eject it.

Goto your .Mac Sync Preferences. The third tab (I believe, I'm not in front of my Mac) is iDisk Prefs. You probably have iDisk Replication turned on. Turn off iDisk Replication and that will remove the iDisk from your desktop and replace it with a recovery file. Just delete the file and it's gone.
