The other day my wife was needing to remote into her pc at work. Her office maintains an AS400 system for hospitals.

The menu is like old DOS, using the function keys to save, close, etc.

I wanted her to use my new mac to show her how much faster it was - BUT we both learned when she hit the f3 key to save her changes - all we got was the windows on the mac turning into large icons.

We tried every sort of combo - cntr-f3, shift-f3, etc. but nothing would work.

I cannot seem to find it on the Apple website either.

I know you guys/gals know how - can you please help me?

How can we use the pc function keys?

THANKS!!!!

Go into System Preferences and select Keyboard. Under the Keyboard tab, check Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys. You may also have to go into the Keyboard shortcuts tab and unselect Exposé and Spaces shortcuts. That should do the trick.
