Hi all,

Can you help me identify if this is an NVIDIA 8600 failure?

As soon as the notebook gets over-heated/loaded, the graphics freeze. Some artifact comes up, or the whites all become pink. This has happened almost always exactly at the moment when I run some GPU acceleration movement, like triggering Expose to show all Spaces, etc.

The Apple Hardware Test (AHT) shows a "VideoController" error.

I have uploaded the video at Youtube:
YouTube - MBP_Graphics_Failure.mp4

I have also attached a picture showing the artifact.

As you can see in the video, the video glitch has occured, but iTunes continues to play. Also, I can access shared files on the notebook, thereby showing that the CPU, RAM, etc are working in perfect order.

Can you guys advise if this looks like the NVIDIA 8600 failure issue? The Apple Service guys here (India) are finding it difficult to even load the Apple test on the GPU, probably because the test pin(s) itself has failed (I am an IC designer).

Thanks.
Anup
