got a problem.... ive had my iBook for about 4 or 5 months, and its showing some serious signs of use where my hands rest just below the keyboard. ive tried using rubbing alcohol and its still there. im not really sure what else to try. is it to late to get this crap off my iBook? if it is, i purchased apple care... is something like this covered?

I use baby wipes, they seem to do a good job. I have small children, so the wipes are in abundance!

Don't use alcohol or ammonia (windex, etc). Get it off with h2O-based cleaners or you'll ruin the finish. You wouldn't clean your car with alcohol would you?

Get Mr Clean's Magic Eraser!

It works wonders on the iBook surfaces - makes it look brand new again!

Try it! (No I don't work for Mr clean)

ok, ill try the mr. clean magic eraser tonight and see what happens. my second question was does apple care cover cosmetic things like this? what if i were to buy a new casing on ebay (ive seen them sold) and just kept it clean from then on? would that void my apple care? if apple care will cover cosmetic things like this, id happily live without it for a few days to ship it there and back.

No, it's regarded as normal 'wear & tear' and isn't covered as such.

I read another post somewhere, where the person used the PDA screen protector sheets on the wrist rests to keep them from getting dirty.
