Hi,

I have an older G4 Macbook 12 inch which will not turn on. I have put it into the repairers but they couldnt figure it out.

he indicated that if you take the battery out and put it back in it starts. but i did this with a full battery and still could not get it to go.

when i take the battery out, connect the mains power and turn it on it sometimes works.

cheers and thanks for any help in advance.

Hi,

Small correction...you either have a G4 12" iBook, or a G4 12" Powerbook...but you don't have a G4 MacBook...no such thing.:) I only mention this...since maybe it makes a difference when it comes to finding a solution to the problem (iBook vs. Powerbook vs. MacBook).

One question...has this laptop ever been dropped? With the electrical problems you describe...it sort of sounds like something is loose inside (a wire, screw, etc.).

Hi,

i think its the powerbook as its about 4 years old or a bit more.

its the aluminium one.

my son dropped a glass of water in it a while back and i had it repaired. so based on that i figure its a loose screw but i dont want to spend any more money on it.

cheers

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
Liquid damage..... hmmmmm!
How was it repaired, as in, what was done?
Was the logic board replaced, and was the battery connector replaced?
