Is there a way to make folders and items on the desktop always display the full name?

Like if I have a pdf file named "Golf Stretching Program" it shows up as "Golf Stret...g.png" Is there a way to set it so all folders always show the full name below the icon picture?

Yeah.

Right click on the Desktop and select View Options.

You can adjust font and spacing sizes to suit your desired preference.

Hope this helps.

that doesn't really do anything with the text attached to the icon. Make a random folder on your desktop and give it the name I have above and try to get all the text of the name visible all the time. I can't figure it out

Yes it does. It works. Try it.

My Finder displayed the whole name, on two lines. (OS 10.5.8)

Oh okay, it didn't mess with the grid spacing but that fixed it, thanks for the help
