OSX 10.6.3 lost mail view

iMac, Macbook Pro & iPhone GS3
After upgrading to 10.6.3 I am now unable to view my mail. My mail is loading continuously. What do I do now? All advice welcome.

Whilst in the process of doing a restore back to 10.6.2, I went back to mail. Hey presto, all my mail is now viewable. Perhaps 10.6.3 took a long time to convert my old mail? Anyone able to explain why? Glad not have to go back and do a full restore.
