• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I've got some Japanese TV dramas which are AVIs, along with external Japanese subtitles on my computer. I've been using ffmpegX to make DVDs with selectable subtitles (softsubs). I would love to have both Japanese and English softsubs. Unfortunately, ffmpegX will only allow one softsub file. Does anyone know a way to have 2?

To be honest, unless you use a higher end package to handle your DVD Authoring, you'll run into issues (higher end being DVD Studio Pro)

With that said, you can experiment doing it yourself - ffmpegx uses a program called dvdauthor to handle authoring a DVD (it's a freeware program that one can get from sourceforge, but it's in the ffmpegx package so you can just use it there). It, AFAIK, can handle multiple subtitle tracks. I honestly don't know how to work with it but here is a doc page on it:

dvdauthor

it won't necessarily be easy and you may need to do some transcoding in ffmpegx before being able to use dvdauthor.
