OK,

I have a MacBook (White, 2.1 Ghz, 120GB HD, 2GB RAM, July, 2008)

And, I am looking to get a larger INTERNAL hard drive for it. I have found many different ones, and was wondering if there were any limits on how large the hard drive was?

Here is a hard drive I am looking at (I know it is big, but I NEED the space with what I am doing!)

Hitachi GST Deskstar 7K2000 2TB Internal SATA 3Gb/s 3.5" Hard Disk Drive 0F10311

Does this work, or if not, what would? (Links, pages, prices)

Thanks in advance!

If your planning to install it inside your machine you need a 2 1/2" one.

No, it won't work. As the previous replay stated, you need a hard drive that is 2.5" and SATA. That one is for a desktop machine and will not fit in your MacBook.

Regards.

It should work. It's the right size and type. But you might want to do so more research on the drive as it's new.

Regards.

Wont a 7200RPM reduce your battery life due to the higher spin of the motor which = more power? Also the 12.5mm wont make a difference to a 9.5mm because there is usualy an extra 5mm of room (at least on my 06 MBP)

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)

Not really, besides, a faster read write time is going to compensate for the higher spin! However, all the tests have shown that there is no negligible negative effect on battery life!
As for the 12.5mm fitting in certain models, it is not recommended, as the excess room is there to allow heat to dissipate.

I just ordered a 13" MBP that comes with a 250 GB 5400 HD. I would like to upgrade it with a 7200 HD. My concern is if the 7200 HD be noisier? What are the benefits to this? Is there a compatibility issue since the 7200 is not an available option thru the apple website.

Thanks

I have one (Hitachi) in my system and love it. It is a great drive and I highly recommend it.
