Itunes 9.0.3

I got my macbook air a few weeks ago and have only recently decided to delete some songs from my iphone.

Because it's a new computer i had to delete my iphone library and resync the iphone. Itunes can see the iphone fine and it can sync with the iphone.

When i click the iphone icon on the left pane of itunes all my iphone songs appear, but they are grayed out. I can secondary click them to bring up a dialogue box, but it only has the option to view info.

Any ideas as to why my itunes wont let me delete songs on my iphone even though it allows it to sync and connects fine?

You dont so much as DELETE songs on your iPhone .... Its a matter of unchecking the songs you dont want then re syncing your phone.
So your iTunes doesnt look like

in itunes on my old XP laptop i could right click songs in the iphone song list in itunes and select delete to delete them straight from the phone. Does it not have that functionality in mac?

Not sure .... I havnt got my iPod Touch at hand to try ...
I have only needed to check or uncheck songs, playlists or artists if i dont want them.

Does this happen in the window where you sync everything to your phone ??

On the Summary page under Options, you'll need to place a check in "Manually manage music and videos" for that functionality.
