• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Final Cut Express Exporting Problems

Hey, I recently got Final Cut Express, but I learnt to use it pretty quickly, and i've made a guitar cover using it, to put on youtube. I'm very happy with how it looks and sounds, however when I export it as a .mov, the video quality decreases tremendously, ruining my footage. Is there anything I can do to stop this?

Also, since Youtube doesn't seem to upload .mov files correctly, I assume i'll need some kind of converter?

Thanks, all help appreciated,

-Sean

Go to file>export>using quicktime conversion
Use quicktime movie, and default settings
Then click on options>settings and change compression type to mpeg-4 (best for youtube)
Then go back and click size and set to HD

YouTube handles .mov files.

You need to do some basic learning, so see my guides which apply to this problem.

Once you have an export that looks good, then upload to YT.
