Urgent Help Needed Now!

I just bought an ibook G4. I came loaded with Panther. I found the tiger CD, put it in and went through the installation, but at the end it said it failed, because of a scratched disk. I went to file and pressed close and told it to book a starup disk from the Hard Drive but now whenever I boot the computer up, it comes up with a black screen and the words 'Localhost:/root#', just like MSDOS. Can anyone help me?

It's okay all fixed now, spat the CD out after a while and I cleaned the disk, placed it back in and reset and the installation came back up. It's a great little laptop, best one I've ever had.
