new pc

wanting to buy a new pc...any ratings as to the best to buy? too confusing with all the different models. i don't need anything fancy and hopefully under $900

Definitely the cheapest you'll get a Mac PC for. Especially if you already have a monitor that you are happy with.
But if you're willing to pay a little more you can get a great iMac in the refurbished section of the Apple store for $1300 right now.

That is exactly what I did when I made the move from PC to Mac a few weeks ago. The learning curve is a bit steep. Imagine that, a steep learning curve to learning how to use an easier system. Anyway, I haven't looked back since. Only downside is that I have to do my taxes on the PC because I bought the software months ago for the PC and I'm not set up with Windows on the Mac. Bottom line, if you can afford a bit more, the 21.5 iMac is a great move.

If you do not have a spare monitor floating around then the imac is the best deal you can go. In my opinion they are the best computers in the terms of value for money.
