Retain 5.1 audio when burning DVD

I have a movie file (mp4) that contains 5.1 surround sound. When I attempt to burn to DVD, after converting with iSkysoft, with Toast 10 the DVD has stereo sound only.

The input file shows:

Video: xvid, 640 x 480, 30 fps
Audio: MPEG-4 Audio, 5.1, 44100 Hz

Output shows:

Custom
Video: MPEG-2, 4.0 Mbps(8.0 Mbps max)
Audio: Dolby Digital 192 kbps

Where did I go wrong? Wrong app, too many apps.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Sorry, no one prolly has tried that - or knew an answer to your question, plus iSkysoft is not a software package that most of us here really approve of as it's considered more scamware then really an effective and valuable software package. Being sarcastic won't help in possibly getting future responses if you are having a problem. I know I don't encode 5.1 audio into DVDs from rips (which wouldn't probably be allowed to be talked about anyway as most movies are copy protected and discussing illegally ripping movies and such is not allowed here), and most of the videos I produce are not 5.1 anyway so I don't deal with 5.1 audio on DVDs - and I have a feeling those people here that do work with 5.1 audio on DVDs are using pro grade tools like DVD Studio Pro and not Toast for their authoring.

Just a thought before you go ripping into the fact that people couldn't necessarily help you on a given topic.
