iTunes & restore of HD

Did the following updates to Macbook Pro: added a 500g HD then upgraded to 6g mem.

In restore phase, I somehow had itunes not find any of my music? Couldn't find on HD after restore so went to ext HD to re-add songs.

Problem is about 10 songs I had recently added were not there.

Question I have, is there a way to pull songs off of iphone & put into library/HD?

Will I lose those songs on iPhone if I do a sync w/ itunes?

I've hesitated to do a sync for fear of losing songs (few).

Is there a way to sync w/o losing those songs?

I suggest investing in Pod to Mac to restore back from the iPhone (or any other kind of iPod). It's $20.
