Apache and PHP Help (Accessing Root Directory)

Hi,

I have spent the past week trying to enable PHP and apache on my new Mac. All the sites that I go to tell me to go the the directory etc/apache2/httpd.conf. However I cannot find this directory.

I am running Mac OS X Snow Leopard, not Snow Leopard Server. I don't know if that is a problem. Please help me I am exhausted with this problem.

Apache is available on Snow Leopard, so not sure why you don't see it. Go to System Preferences->Sharing and you can enable Web Sharing there. That should get Apache running..but you still need to modify the httpd.conf file to enable PHP support..

I have managed to enable apache but I cannot find the httpd.conf file. I cannot find the directory /etc/apache...

Any ideas?

finding your folder

Hi there. The folder you are looking is hidden.. but it is there. What you need to do to locate it is..While in finder, go to the menu bar, and click on

>GO>Go To Folder.

In the box that pops up, type in /etc/apache2/ and that will open the folder containing the httpd.conf. file.

Hope that helps.

Or, you can open up Terminal, and type pico /etc/apache2/httpd.conf.

it's should be there.
