No. Changing the hard drive does not void your warranty. Of course any damage to the machine due to changing the hard drive would not be covered.

A question not so related to the topic but.. why would Apple sell hard drive upgrades at such an expensive cost?

Even the external hard drives with full casing costs less.

It is how they have there business plan outlined. The thing is people are still buying the product, or they wouldnt continually keep such exuberant prices ......

Believe it not the full on  fanboys will only buy from  and thats why they will keep them like that :( Sad but true
