Hi

When needing to clear all system entries such as browsing history, Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, History Form Data, past words etc, how does one access this in Safari? I've been in to preferences but there doesn't seem to be a single tab in Safari to perform this operation, where as on my old Windows system Internet Explorer 8 did this with ease.

In Safari -> History -> Clear History
or
Safari -> Reset Safari
or
Safari -> Empty Cache

Cheers ... McBie

Actually there are a couple of better options:

1. Use "private browsing" (under the Safari menu, check the help file for details)

2. Stop visiting porn sites at work. :)

Even though you asked of a way to do it through Safari you could kill 2 birds with one stone and give your whole system a clean up with either Oynx or MainMenu ...

Just a suggestion :)

So i take it each one of the above performs the same operation? or does one need to perform each one seperatly to gain different results?

The commands perform different functions. The Empty Cache command clears only the cache and the Clear History command clears the browser history. The Reset Safari option brings up a dialog which allows you to choose which options to clear including history and cache.

Hi Dude,

I found the drop down menu for reseting Safari and performed all options, all except one, Remove All Website Icons. Not to sound dum, but what does this actually mean? :[

I believe that means the icons you get when you goto *top sites*.
There it shows a page of the top sites you have been too. 6, 12 or 24 pages will be showing. Cleaning these out will only get rid of them, and as you start to surf again they will appear once again :)

Cheers

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I think that "Remove All Website Icons" clears the tiny site icons a.k.a "favicons" that appear in Safari's address bar. I think the Top Sites stuff is cleared by the Reset Top Sites option.
