Been having a few problems with my imac's HD, ran a hardware test today and this error msg came up.

4H dd/11/40000000:sata(0,0)

I know people are saying the drive is going but just wondering what this code means.

Now that you found your answer, are you backing up that drive regularly? :D

Regards.

Nice to see you ran AHT and as suggested maybe the hard drive. You could try DiskWarrior but at just on $100 cheaper to invest in a new drive.

time machine had backed up to a recent date but when the system sometimes boots and you run it the system freezes so will have to leave it at that.

Ahh well that just about eliminates everything else if DW cannot rebuild the drive.

it re built the drive and fixed a few errors but when I shutdown the mac and tried starting up again, the question mark came up.

cold killed the machine and left it off over night, powered it on today and the thing booted.

Whilst all is well, keep going with it and trust you have everything backed up to an external drive if, or when, the internal drive does fail?

have been told by our mac driend today that the error code is not good at all and the more you try to do with the mac the less stuff you will be able to recover.
