Entourage 2008 Can't Open Office Attachments!

I suddenly can't open office documents (ppt, word or excel docs) in entourage 2008 when people send them to me as attachments. i think there was a software update recently, and maybe it was this that caused it. (it used to work!) It is driving me crazy. I can open the same attachments inside mac mail fine. In Entourage, says they may not be a ppt, or word, etc. doc, or that they may be "corrupted" or "in-use."

HELP!

Yes Office 2008 was updated to version 12.2.4, which of course included Entourage 2008. Open Office and click on Update.

I actually did do this software update and have version 12.2.4. I think it was after I installed this update that this started happening. Any ideas?
