So I downloaded the drivers for this Canon CanoScan LiDE 200 for my mac (running snow leopard) and restarted my macbook pro.

I plugged it into the usb port (where it draws power as well) and image capture opened and everything worked fine.

I then plugged in my WD 320 gb external drive into my other USB port and then got a "connection error to scanner" message.

now the scanner does not show up in my devices in image capture and I i've tried re-installing the drivers twice now and nothing.

What happened here? I need to get this up and running within the hour as well for work.

i also went into my "library" and deleted the canon scanner folder under "printers" and tried to re-install the drivers with a restart afterwords and still nothing.

very odd since it's always worked.

If it is drawing power as you say from the USB port, the MBP may not be able to supply sufficient power. Try a dual connecting cable and a powered USB hub.

not sure what it was.. supposedly someone at the office said it doesn't like computers with intel core 2 duo chips?

does that even make sense?

anyway, I just went ahead and bought a new scanner..

:) thank you.
