Time Capsule worth it?

As I have stated in other recent posts I am new to the Mac, and wanted to know how well the Time Capsule worked or if it is just worth getting a WD external to back up my data on.

For me Time Capsule is great .... Wireless backup, no cables , no hassle
No matter where I sit in the house, I have my backups.
