Latest firmware update for SnowLeopard/Mac Pro (bought about 6 months ago) requires that the computer be restarted "by pressing the Power switch on the keyboard", and note lights twinkle, and then...
Trouble is, the keyboard that came with my Mac Pro (UK) doesn't have a keyboard Power switch! That means, after I think I've installed it, when I restart from the Apple menu, it hasn't: when I check for software updates, it keeps showing that the Firmware update is still needed.

At a loss.

I don't have a Mac Pro, but maybe try the power button on the computer itself?

One (Apple menu) allows 'restart', which was what was requested; but also retried shutdown from Apple and reboot.

Pressing the boot-up button on the computer front has no effect when the computer is booted, to prevent accidental 'nudging'/pressing and loss of current work.
