Ipod/ITunes woes

Recently, I connected my Ipod nano to my laptop to sinc some new downloads. But, this time my nano did not appear in the left pane as usual nor did it appear on the desktop. I did recently downloaded the most recent version of ITunes though, so if anyone has a suggestion on how to see my nano , any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

Disconnect it and reconnect it. It happens on occasion.
