Hey guys,

I have recently purchased a macbook Pro which is running on Mac OS X version 10.6.2.

Previously the Mac was always connected to the internet through wireless.

However, since the move to the new office for work, I am only limited to a ethernet connection.
Were using cat6 cables here in the office where cat5 doesnt seem to get us connected to the internet.

However, when I plug the cat6 cable into my MBP it doesnt recognise that it has been connected and in the systems preference menu, under networks it shows the ethernet connection as red.

Just one strange thing that I relaised when I plug the ethernet into my MBP, there is no normal click sound that you normally hear when you plug in the ethernet.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Is my ethernet port faulty?
Is it the cat6 cable that the MBP doesnt support?
Or hopefully, its some settings that I dont know how to set.

Thanks guys

Normally plugging in with ethernet cable just works - have you tried another cable OR use current cable into another computer?
Has the New Office Modem being configured to hand out DHCP addresses?
