Why don't you ask your local store instead of us? :D

I was planning to call the store the day before I picked it up to ask but was just wondering if anyone had heard anything already. That's why I posted the question here :)

I figured that since the Apple retail stores are basically a chain that the hours would pretty much be the same no matter where the store is located at least in the US that is. And if you must know :) I live in the Los Angeles area.

Well it seems all the people who said the ipad would not sell well were a little wrong:)

Or did Apple just have a small first batch to make it look like it's really selling well?

Not happening.

Unless we're seeing a greater than 15-20% failure rate during the initial warranty period. Less than that, and you're in the 90% that just gave their money away to pay for the less than 10% that had theirs replaced as with practically every extended warranty on the planet. That's why the actuaries get paid the big bucks.

Yeah, I just asked someone what they were doing for the Applecare, and they said they weren't either. So your response just sealed the deal, bobtomay. But if something should happen to go wrong, we'll still have that option open.

Just so others don't misunderstand. There could be issues with them. There really are at least a couple of new areas of technology for Apple in the iPad. But we'll see, and still should have time to add an extended warranty later on with by then, some knowledge as to the problems that may be common with the iPad.

Unless your ipad dies 1 year and 1 day after you purchase it :).Then you'll wish you had apple care.

Mind you going by Apple's history I think ipad Applecare is not the best investment in the world.

[edit] "Please note that your reservation will be held only until 3 p.m. on April 3. After 3 p.m., iPad will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last."

Is this true for instore reservations?

I am assuming the shops will open at Midnight on Launch Day, just like the bookshops did when each Harry Potter book was launched.

Any news on a Launch Date in UK yet please? I really need to wait for the 3G, as public WiFi sites are not that common around here. Of course, 3G is not that good at Home but with both I can get it working both at Home (WiFi) and at Work (3G). At least that does allow time for people to find out if there are technical issues with the first batch. ;)

I got a confirmation email with my pre-order, but it wasn't right away. Took a few hours.
