EVERY thing I find says to enable fast user switching, go to System Pref - Log In Options - Enable Fast User Switching. The problem is.... that prompt simply doesn't exist on my MBPro or my iMac. Running 10.6.2 on both. The only related option I see is "Show fast user switching menu as: (drop down menu with name, short name, and icon as options). What am I missing guys? Thanks muchly in advance.

In Snow Leopard, Fast User Switching is always "on" unless you only have one account.

??? Whenever I log out to go to another account, EVERYTHING shuts down for the account I am logging out of. Am I switching wrong? (note- I am a 5 week old Mac baby!)

Ah. You were asking how to actually USE it, not where to turn it on or off. Sorry I misinterpreted.

Bravo on working it out!
