• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Right now it sounds like you may have crossed over into discussing the use of illegally downloaded movies, so offering help may be difficult while following the rules of the mac-forum.

But, if they aren't illegal downloads, can you describe more of the file extension that they *were* when you downloaded the files originally?

they're actually clips. the download does not have a file extension name before the .html. i was successful into turning two of them into .flv files, but a third was not cooperating. can't figure out why.

i don't believe they're illegal.

I don't understand - is the current extension .html then? What size is it? (is it the size that a video should be?) And how did you know what file extension to convert the other ones to, did you just guess?
