Brother Printer Issues with 10.5.8

I just upgraded my Mac 1.6 GHz G5 from 10.4.1 to OS 10.5.8.

Now I can't print to my Brother HL-2140 printer. I downloaded the new driver from Brother...the new CUPS driver, but I think that is only for 10.6 Snow Leopard. I also updated the Printers Firmware as recommended. The printer says ready and when I try to print it looks like it's going to print and then the status changes to "Stopped" and this error flashed - "rastertobrother2140 failed"

Any Help?

Or...does anyone know where I can download older Brother Printer Drivers. The Brother Website does not have older drivers to download.

Thx

According to Brother, the latest CUPs driver supports all OS X versions, not just Snow Leopard 10.6.

What I suggest doing is completely remove the Brother and reinstall it again. Also, have you made sure that the latest driver is being used? You can do that by selecting Print & Fax from System Preferences. Highlight the Brother and then click on "Options & Supplies". Now click on the "Driver" tab. What driver is being used? If it's not the latest, use the scroll down arrow to find it and then select it.

Regards.

Good advice from Chscag. I own a Brother 2040 which I think is the model just before yours. Works great in 10.5 and 10.6 and 10.6.1 and 10.6.2.

Latest brother driver in all cases.
