iMovie '09--High Def pictures "sizzle and wave"

I made my first iMovie with video and pictures from Europe. I mixed high def video from a Canon HFS11 with still pictures from the same at 8 megapixels. I then ran it through iDVD and made the disk.

When I play the video on my 1080p TV, the stills have a wave and sizzle on the sharper lines. It looks like thousands of ants moving.

Is there a fix for this? Should I "dull down" the stills?

I think your settings in iMovie are for interlaced video - if you can export it form iMovie as deinterlaced or 1080p then the lines will go away.
