butters if the App has a uninstaller, its advisable to use that. If not there a plethora of other apps out there to help you on your way. I have 2 currently and both in unison dont miss a thing They are 1: AppCleaner. Just drag App to it and it does the rest.
2: AppTrap. And this sits in the preference pane and is out of site and un obtrusive. All you need to do is drag Apps to the trash and yep it trashes all associated file/folders ..

Cheers

Some confusion is understandable, because there's not one way that works for all apps. (Well, using the software TM suggests might.) Some apps are so simple to remove that all you need to do is find them and drag the application icon to the Trash and yer done.

TattooedMac. How can you use 2 in unison?

I've never even thought about using an uninstaller app but of course I totally see the point now!

As Tattooed points out, if you have the uninstaller run that, particularly for MS Office, Adobe software and antivirus software. There are a number of removal utilities but AppTrap is freeware.

Personally I have had the best results with AppZapper.
AppZapper - The uninstaller Apple forgot.
For me it's the best 3rd party uninstaller I have used.

And as a note it's best to check up on the uninstallers that come with Apps. Because some do not delete certian files on purpose.
