Moving itunes to external hard drive

Hi All.

I just bought an external hard drive Seagate expansion 1 TB and I would like to move all my itunes to it. (music and movies) I have followed the online tutorials for this but when I get to the section where I click on consolidate my library I get an itunes error: "Copying files failed. You do not have the privilege to make changes." UGH!

Does anyone know how to fix this as I have run out of room on my mac book and need the space.

have you reformatted the drive to Mac format?

There should also be an ignore ownership and permissions option at the bottom of the window when you select get info for that drive
